Tilapia is a tropical species and is being cultivated in fresh water. In fact it is one of the most well-known freshwater species around the globe. The fish has a mild to mid-sweetish taste and a slightly firm structure. Tilapia originates from the Nile River and is nowadays being raised in various warm waters throughout the world, including Asia.
