LENK takes over “Fahim Seafoods”
With the establishment of its new Bangladesh entity Luna Seafoods Ltd. in 2020, and the recent acquisition of Fahim Seafood Processing Pvt. Ltd., Thailand headquartered LENK Frozen Foods aims to set new quality standards for Black Tiger shrimp from Bangladesh.
Being one of the leading market actors of Bangladeshi Black Tiger shrimp,
LENK has started to build its own integrated supply chain to assure freshest raw material Black Tiger shrimp, to be merchandised into high end markets.
Operated by LENK’s Bangladesh subsidiary “Luna Seafoods Ltd”, and supported by grant funding from the German Government, Luna Seafoods is putting the fragmented farm areas into clusters, providing own shrimp collection centres, and assuring a fully controlled and time-efficient cold chain
for the supply of its own raw material to the newly acquired processing facility Fahim Seafoods Pvt Ltd., which is located in the Khulna zone area, close to Satkhira district; the largest Black Tiger shrimp farming area in Bangladesh.
The Luna Seafoods supply chain project, in which LUNA works directly with small-scale farmers, has also been nominated to be the first ASC Group Farmer Certification Pilot Project. Supported by Dutch NGO Solidaridad Networks, one of the leading NGO’s in the international agriculture sector, in the role of “field partner”, the objective is to achieve a yearly production of 1.500 tons finished product, out of which 850 tons are contributed from the
Luna Shrimp Project activities.
With this new operation and brand, LENK Group is aiming to set advanced quality standards in the entire Bangladesh seafood sector, meanwhile exploring new global sales markets, in particular Asia, for the introduction of these “farm to fork” premium quality Black Tiger shrimps.
